Project four:
Japanese & American Cartoon Art
This project is based on the Exploring the Artists list created for Cartoon Art Jam. The Summer Cartoon Art Jam was an art project with three parts blending together: a weblog, a five-day art workshop for the (W)Bright Lights International exchange program with students from Senshu Matsudo University Junior High School in late June and a variety of artworks created in the surrounding neigborhoods and streets.
This list focuses on American artists, regionalism, Japanese artists and the Edo Period. So much of what these artists represent is inspiration to others; everyone of them is important and influenced everything we see today. For example: American cartoonist/animators (W)Walt Disney and (W)Max Fleischer inspired (W)Osamu Tezuka and his artwork in Japan.
